Welcome to From a Boomer's Point of View.
The general election phase of the 2008 presidential campaign is in full swing. From day one of the primary campaign, this female, professional, suburban, white baby boomer has closely followed the candidates for the first time in her life. Raised in a Republican household, in my early voting years, I was a registered Republican. But since the 1990s, I have considered myself an Independent voter who looks carefully at the issues rather than the personalities.
In these critical times, I see the 2008 election as an opportunity for serious course correction in U.S. government. I see this election as a clear choice between the past and the future; chump change vs. real change. Although I don't seem to fit the "profile," I support the junior senator from Illinois, Barack Obama.
Writing is what I do, so this blog allows me to share my thinking and pertinent articles from newspapers and the blogosphere to learn about and enjoy the campaign from a boomer's point of view.
